TOURIN HOUSE AND GARDENS
Tourin House and Gardens are situated three miles from Cappoquin and the Heritage town of Lismore, County Waterford in the South East of Ireland.
The main House at Tourin was built in 1840 in the then fashionable Italianate style.The main feature inside is a fine double oak staircase.
Tourin Gardens extend over 5 acres and include a Walled Garden. A fine collection of camellias, rhododendrons, magnolias and other shrubs give a beautiful seasonal display of colour. Rare and mature trees include a Champion London Plane Tree. Lovely walks along garden and woodland paths lead to Tourin Quay and a pond with wild duck and other wild life.
Overlooking the river Blackwater, the original historic sixteenth century Tower House still stands and can be seen from the garden.
DROMANA HOUSE AND GARDENS
Dromana House is a true gem, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the strikingly beautiful, unspoilt river Blackwater. It is surrounded by a 600 acre privately owned estate with numerous woodland and garden walks. Several interesting historic follies are also to be seen throughout the grounds including an ancient outer fortification, boathouse and slipway down to the river. This period property has been lovingly maintained by its owners whose family have lived on this location since 1200, the present owner being the 21st generation.
Located near the historic town of Lismore County Waterford, Dromana is less than 25 km from the sandy beaches of the South East coast of Ireland, from Tramore to – Ardmore, incorporating the renowned scenic drive along the Copper coast.
CAPPOQUIN HOUSE AND GARDENS
Cappoquin House is an 18th century Georgian mansion built on the site of an old Fitzgerald castle. It dominates the river Blackwater at the point where, due to an ice age blockage, the river turns south and ploughs its way through the hills to the sea. The castle was one of a series controlling the tidal waters of the river, a main artery of trade with England. Looking upstream you can see Lismore Castle. Downstream you can see Dromana
LISMORE CASTLE

STRANCALLY CASTLE
Strancally Castle is located on the River Blackwater, close to the town of Youghal in County Cork.
This is a private estate owned by the Billensteiner family and was designed by James and George Pain and built for John Kelly around 1830. It stands in front of the original ruin of a Desmond castle, which contained an infamous murdering hole, which dispatched those who incurred the wrath of a Desmond to the river below. There is no access to the Desmond castle.
BALLYIN HOUSE AND GARDENS
Ballyin’s six-acre gardens are located on the north bank of the river Blackwater just upstream from Lismore Castle on grounds which slope down to the river and thus provide splendid views of the river itself and the surrounding meadows.
The gardens date from at least the early 18th Century and are mentioned in Smith’s History of Waterford (published in 1746) as being renowned for the excellent vegetables grown there.
